Wild Dunes Fall Break Day 4

Our last day we spent a little time on the beach, followed by lunch by the pool, and some shopping and walking around Wild Dunes. Our precious Wild Dunes was actually hit harder than we had expected by Hurricane Irma. A lot of the beach had been washed away and the tide actually came right up to the Grand Pavilion. As a comparison, the first picture is a "before". We were a little shocked, but we know they will recover well. They were already working on it while we were there.

As you can see in the pictures below, all of the greenery, the walkway, and the long soft sand beach had been washed away. You stepped right off the steps (the bottom of which had been washed away) on to hard sand and at high tide, the water came up to the steps. It was crazy!

 But we didn't let it affect our fun! Just had to pick low tide times.
