Evan tried out and made the 6th Grade Basketball team! I have to admit I was a nervous wreck while he was waiting to find out. I now understand why my parents said they dreaded cheerleading tryouts every year (afraid I wouldn't make it). I'm super proud of him and happy for him. I'm a little disappointed because he is insisting that he does NOT want to swim this year. He wants to concentrate on basketball. I really hate to see him give that up, but I'm trying to make him make his own decisions.
Go Evan! I can't wait to watch you play!

Caroline on the Farm
It looks like Caroline will follow in her big sister's footsteps and love being on Granddaddy's "farm". She is even getting a little farmer's tan (on her feet, hands, and neck) from being outside with Granddaddy. The cutest is that she has little white lines where her sweet little fat rolls are.

Working Man
Evan desperately wanted a cell phone (with real phone service as opposed to the iPod he's had for a while). We decided it was about time for him to have one with him participating in more and more activities away from us. We agreed to buy him the actual phone for his birthday if he would agree to mow the yard to "pay" for the monthly charge. It's a learning process.
His quote: "I don't want to do this for like, a month, if I'm not going to get my phone for a month."

Spring Dance
Evan has jumped right in to the social life of middle school! He loves attending sporting events and dances and his friends are becoming more and more important to him. His hair is also becoming very important to him.

Favorite Memories From Your 9th Month:
You saying Mama! I love to hear your little voice say my name. I also love it when you get really excited when you see me and start bouncing and smiling and when you reach your arms up to me. You love to play play pat-a-cake and will clap your hands to tell us to play. I also love looking at your little smile with your two little teeth. It is fun to see your personality start to develop and I love watching you learn and grow. It's a little bittersweet because you continue to become more independent and less snuggly and cuddly. As I watch you rock on your hands and knees, I know you are right on the cusp of taking off and being on the move!
