The Plan... Finally

I went back to the oncologist today. Overall, a great prognosis. For my tumor type there is a 12% recurrence rate in 5 years without treatment and with treatment it drops to 5%. They are both very low, but we opted for treatment for the best possible odds of cure. Sometime next week I will have a port placed during an outpatient day surgery. I will start chemo on Valentine's Day and will have treatment every other week for 3 months. I feel really good about the plan. Of course, taking chemo is not my favorite idea in the world, but I'm strong and healthy. I'm so thankful for excellent and compassionate Drs and nurses, and that God has gifted humans with the knowledge, curiosity, and initiative that leads to modern science and technology. How amazing to be diagnosed with a deadly disease and be able to increase your odds for a CURE from an already amazing 12% (thanks to technology that allows for early detection and surgery) to 5%! We are so blessed! Let's do this!!
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
