Karma

Not that we are Buddhists or anything, but Matthew likes to introduce our kids to the theory of karma. It goes a little like this:

Evan is jumping on the bed and Matthew tells him to stop. He doesn't listen and consequently ends up bumping his head. That's karma.

Our children are visited by karma multiple times per day. Evan is catching on pretty quickly.

Now, when he gets hurt by doing something he knows he shouldn't have been doing he will say, "That's karma."

He does get a little confused with the theory sometimes. Like for instance he likes to think he can choose a person's karma. "If you don't get me that popsicle right now you are going to get karma. And today's karma is banging your knee."

Sorry, it doesn't work that way buddy.

Chloe even gets in on the game. She will run through the house singing, "You're gonna get karma".

She got the ultimate karma the other night. It went a little something like this.

"Chloe, get away from the bathtub while Bubba takes a bath....... Chloe leave Bubba alone while he takes a bath..... Chloe, do not reach into the bathtub.....

Suddenly....

Karma strikes again! And Chloe wasn't too happy about it, either. She said, "I fell into the tub and my head went underwater and I got all soaking wet!"

To which Evan replied, "That's karma!", with a shrug of his shoulders.
