It's been another one of those years. One of those years where we are constantly planning. And then changing our plans. Because things didn't go the way we planned. One of those years where we are continually waiting and seeing. Delaying decisions. Trying to be patient to see what He has planned.
I really can't go into detail with all that has gone on this year, but we have thought Matthew may possibly change jobs (in an upward position) a few different times. That plan which at one time seemed fairly certain did not work out. Then we thought there might be a possibility he might change jobs (in a lateral, but higher paying, position), but that turned out not to work out either. Then I thought I might like to change jobs (in a "younger" position), but seems that won't be happening this year either.
After much consideration and prayer (and several drives back and forth for baseball) we decided to once again put our house back on the market. We had a showing right away. We caught wind the people were very interested. They asked for the disclosure statements and our realtor felt they would make an offer. But they didn't.
And you know what, we are ok with all of that. We have been a little disappointed by some of the events that have taken place, but more for others involved than for ourselves. We are learning. We are learning that when what seems like an opportunity doesn't end up working out, it is usually for a better reason. Something better is coming. We are being protected from something. We are already where we are meant to be. We still have work to do. We are learning all of that, so we are trying to be patient. We are trusting God. We are trying not to worry or be anxious. We are satisfied where we are. We are filled and content with the many blessings in our lives. In fact we are overflowing with the many blessings in our lives.
It doesn't hurt that I once again came across another verse about plans the other day:
"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." Proverbs 19:21
And so we are waiting for the Lord's purpose to prevail. Sure we plan. We plan in case this happens and if that happens. But, we know, ultimately the Lord's purpose will prevail. And we are happy and content. Beyond that, we are joyful. We have been so blessed by theLord and we will enjoy our blessings as we work to fulfill our purpose in our current positions and wait to see what will be in store for us in the future.
And in the meantime, no new jobs mean we are free to head off for an extended stay at the beach this summer! So, we are considering that plan as well.
I'm hoping that plan will find favor with the Lord:)
